Sea GIF, 2024
Animated GIF / video loop
Silent
Source: graphite drawing and letterpress on cotton paper
Format: digital display on monitor
Sea GIF is part of the multimedia installation El mar inmenso, el inmenso mar. This looped animation was created from hand-drawn graphite lines and letterpress-printed words on cotton paper. Displayed on a monitor, the piece presents an endless movement of waves—both a visual poem and a suspended fragment of time.
Through the repetition of hand-drawn and printed marks, Sea GIF blurs the boundaries between drawing and digital image, echoing the ongoing ebb and flow of memory. It invites viewers to linger in a perpetual present, where each wave is both a return and a departure within the immense sea of recollection.
