Azul Klein (International Klein Blue), 2024
Video/GIF
Azul Klein is a looped video piece created from archival footage of nuclear explosions at Bikini Atoll in the 1940s. The work isolates and reinterprets these moments, transforming the original black-and-white images into flashes of intense ultramarine blue—a direct allusion to Yves Klein’s signature color. Through repetition and abstraction, Azul Klein turns catastrophe into a hypnotic visual event, highlighting the seductive and terrifying beauty found in moments of destruction.
This piece reflects on the power of color and memory, questioning how history is visually coded and reimagined through contemporary lenses.
