“Vacational Aesthetics of the Environment”, 2024
Video installation composed of 8 monitors, each displaying a different video, cables, and graphite lines on the wall. Variable dimensions.
“Vacational Aesthetic of the Environment" is a multimedia project that blends the nostalgic past with the tangible reality of the present, exploring this convergence from the unique perspective of binocular vision.
The project materializes through a series of video collages and photographic diptychs that present an interaction between familiar vacation images from the mid-20th century, captured in 8 mm format, and contemporary records of environmental challenges and natural disasters in South Florida. This visual fusion, presented in a circular format evoking binocular vision, aims to provoke reflections on the relationship between memory, environment, and environmental awareness.
My proposal is not limited solely to visual aesthetics; it also serves as a means to explore the intrinsic connections between our collective memory and the urgency of contemporary environmental challenges. By allowing these images to intermingle and collide, I invite you to reflect on the formation of our individual perspective on the environment and its influence on understanding and addressing current issues.
