“Tide of Memory”, 2024
Large scale video installation.

“Tide of Memory” is a large-scale video installation that merges nostalgia with environmental critique. The central piece features a bird’s-eye view of the Atlantic Ocean, with turbulent, restless waters near the Miami coastline. Amidst the chaotic movement of the sea, a circular shape reminiscent of a blue hole appears. Within this shape, mid-20th-century family vacation films of Miami, captured in 8 mm format, are projected. These carefree images contrast sharply with the tumultuous nature of the ocean, evoking the tension between idyllic memories and the environmental realities that now threaten to consume that past. “Tide of Memory” creates a dialogue between the ephemeral nature of memory and the impending transformation of the coastal landscape.

The video installation consists of a large projection titled “Tide of Memory,” which gives the project its name. This main piece interacts with two opposing videos, “Black TOM” and “White TOM.”

"Tide of Memory" is a special solo project installation for the Women Photographers International Archive WOPHA Congress 2024 at the JW Marriott.
