”Echoes of Mother Nature", 2025 multichannel video installation, immersive projection.
Musical collaboration: Natalia Santaliz (soprano), Héctor Molina (guitar/cuatro), Anna Fateeva (piano)
Presented by: Miami Beach Botanical Garden / IlluminArts
Echoes of Mother Nature is a multichannel video installation by Julia Zurilla, created specifically for the Miami Beach Botanical Garden in collaboration with IlluminArts. This immersive work weaves poetic images of nature and memory, exploring both the strength and fragility of our environment in the face of climate change. Through circular projections—like windows opening onto shifting landscapes, oceans, storms, and forests—the installation envelops the audience in a visual and sonic experience that invites contemplation and environmental awareness.
The musical repertoire, performed live by soprano Natalia Santaliz, guitarist/cuatro player Héctor Molina, and pianist Anna Fateeva, was carefully selected and inspired by Zurilla’s work, resulting in a true interdisciplinary dialogue between visual art and music. Throughout the evening, video art is projected across the walls and ceiling, transforming the garden into a sensory universe where nature and art intertwine, inviting collective reflection on the future of our planet.
Echoes of Mother Nature is inspired by the idea that nature holds echoes that resonate in our memory and culture, reminding us of its power as well as its vulnerability. This immersive experience—born from the collaboration between visual and musical artists—aims to awaken empathy and action in the face of contemporary environmental challenges, while also celebrating the beauty and resilience of our natural world.
